The smartphone could be powered by Android 8.0 Oreo
The latest HTC U12 leak comes today from LlabTooFeR, who claims on Twitter that HTC’s upcoming Android flagship smartphone would be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chip and have dual rear cameras.
According to LlabTooFeR, the rumored HTC U12 Android smartphone is dubbed HTC Imagine, has a dual rear camera system with 12MP and 16MP Sony IMX3xx sensors, a 5.99-inch QHD+ display, and a selfie 8MP camera that apparently supports the HTC Face Unlock facial recognition technology.
Under the hood, HTC Imagine/U12 is said to have up to 6GB of RAM, which combined with the powerful Snapdragon 845 processor would make the Android smartphone a lot faster than its predecessors. As for the internal storage, the device will apparently ship with the now standard 256GB ROM.
As far as the software inside HTC U12 goes, the device will apparently launch with Google’s Android 8.0 Oreo mobile operating system with the HTC Sense 10 UI and Edge Sense 2.0 squeeze function for an enhanced and modern experience. An Android 8.1 Oreo update should be on its way later this year.
The leak suggests HTC U12 would come with full support for Google’s Project Treble, which claims to speed up the delivery of the latest Android software updates. The phone is apparently coming with a dual-SIM model as well, IP68-certified water and dust resistance, and a bigger, long-lasting 3420mah battery.
According to the leak, the HTC U12 could be launched as soon this April, but there’s no official confirmation on anything for now. A couple of weeks ago, HTC showcased an unknown Android smartphone at a 5G event in Taiwan, which could be HTC’s next-generation flagship phone (see the attached photos for more details).
