South Korean electronics brand, LG yesterday announced a new smartphone in its homeland, namely, the LG X4. It is unknown whether the LG X4 is coming to the Indian market or not, but the smartphone is a stripped down version of the LG X4+, which never made into the Indian market. So we presume that the LG X4 will not make its way to India. The highlight of the X4 is the support for LG Pay, like the X4+. And the phone is priced at KRW 297,000 (approx. Rs 17,900). For the asking price and the specifications it has, the LG X4 is an overpriced product by a massive margin, and this could be the reason why LG is not launching the phone in other competitive markets such as India. The LG X4 features a 5.3-inch HD display and also offers fingerprint scanner.
Speaking about the specifications of the LG X4, it comes with a 5.3-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Internally, it’s powered by the entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset, mated to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There’s a microSD card slot as well for storage expansion up to a whopping 2TB.
The device sports polycarbonate body and offers a fingerprint scanner located at the rear. LG has added additional functionalities to the fingerprint scanner such as screenshot capture, act as a shutter button, and so on. The phone measures 8.6mm in thickness and weigh around 164grams. Cameras in the LG X4 include a 8MP rear shooter and a 5MP selfie shooter.
Aforesaid, the highlight of the LG X4 is the support for LG Pay, which is the company’s digital solution rivalling Samsung Pay in South Korea. Users of the LG X4 can make payments using the fingerprint scanner. For the unaware, LG Pay is not yet available in the Indian market.
The device boots Android 7.1.2 Nougat based LG UX on top. It offers connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and a micro USB port for charging and data transfer. The LG X4 sips the juice from a 3000mAh battery present inside. LG also confirmed that the X4 would be available via three mobile carriers in South Korea. International availability of the smartphone is yet to be revealed by the company.
