Roland Quandt reveals that the future Galaxy S10 flagship will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, which will be the silicon makers flagship processor in 2019.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 Plus are just two days away from the official debut, and the rumor mill has already begun churning out new details about the Samsung Galaxy S10, which will mark the 10th anniversary of Samsung’s long going successful S line in Android smartphone’s history.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 is still a long journey, and we still have the Galaxy Note 9 which will be coming in late 2018. Now coming towards the new details about the Galaxy S10, the well-known tipster Roland Quandt reveals that the future Galaxy S10 flagship will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, which will be the silicon makers flagship processor in 2019. And it will be based on a 7nm manufacturing process making the Galaxy S9 and the Snapdragon 855 the world’s first one to do so, for a while, until the competition catches up. Moreover, the Snapdragon 855 has to support a matured 5G speeds because, until 2019,5G should the new norm at least in the west. Companies like Nokia are already on the forefront with the installation as well as the development of high-speed 5G networks. With that said, the SD 855 will arrive the highly capable X24 modem, Mr. Quandt, points out.
Earlier we also heard about Qualcomm is working on a custom core architecture similar to Krait and Kyro to tackle Apple’s Bionic chip as well as it will also aim at Samsung’s Exynos processor. So, that new architecture might also end-up on the Snapdragon 855, and we could see an evolution of the Kyro to something much more powerful along with the efficiency of the 7nm process.
However, it all comes down to carriers on how they deliver the 5G speeds current chips are more than capable enough of providing speed up to 500mbps but are the majority of flagship users even getting mere 20mbps or 40mbps?
