President Trump welcomed the chance to yuk it up with the favorite targets of his rancor — the media — at the Gridiron Club dinner and touted how he’s also enjoying working in the White House for the “American People.”
“The Gridiron Dinner last night was great fun. I am accomplishing a lot in Washington and have never had a better time doing something, and especially since this is for the American People!,” he wrote on Twitter Sunday.
The president suited up in white ties and tails to rub elbows with the press corps — whom he called “the opposition party” — at the annual Washington, D. C., soiree Saturday and made fun of his administration, his family and members of his Cabinet.
“Nobody does self-deprecating humor better than I do. It’s not even close,” Trump told the gathering of politicians and journalists.
On son-in-law Jared Kushner’s problems getting a White House security clearance: “We were late tonight because Jared could not get through security.”
