Within minutes of announcing her Democratic campaign for governor Monday, a video clip from 2004 surfaced showing Trump handing Nixon an Emmy award for best supporting actress for her performance as Miranda Hobbes in “Sex and the City.”
“Okay, and the Emmy goes to Cynthia Nixon,” Trump announced from the stage of the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
“Thank you very much, oh my goodness,” Nixon beamed as she accepted the prestigious award from Trump’s hands.
Cynthia Nixon will challenge Gov. Cuomo in Democratic primary
The clip went viral on social media hours after Nixon announced that she is challenging Gov. Andrew Cuomo in this year’s Democratic primary.
While she never mentioned Cuomo by name, Nixon, 51, took a not-so-subtle jab at the two-term Empire State governor in a video announcing her campaign.
“We are sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power than they do about us,” she said in the more than two minute long video.
Nixon has also been openly critical of the man who once handed her an Emmy.

“President Trump’s first year in office has been a dark year for many in America,” Nixon wrote in an essay published by CNN ahead of Trump’s first State of the Union address in January. “For those of us who value equal rights for all, or economic and racial justice, or want to combat climate change, we’ve taken huge steps backwards.”
