Xiaomi has been very busy with Android 8.0 Oreo updates in the last couple of weeks. The company had started testing the update for the Mi 5 and Mi Mix just last month. This was followed by the recent OTA release of Android 8.0 Oreo-based MIUI 9.2.3 for the Xiaomi Mi 6. The company has now gradually released stable Oreo ROMs for The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Xiaomi Mi 5 and the Xiaomi Mi Note 2. These updates have been released under the MIUI 9 Global Stable Beta and are not final updates. Therefore, these updates will not arrive via an OTA update and will require a manual installation.
The Update to Oreo is based on MIUI 9 which comes in version 8.2.1. The firmware also includes various security patches from the month of February which carries fixes for the infamous Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities. If you want to install these updates right now, it is recommended to do a fastboot flash using TWRP. Before that, you would need to unlock your bootloader. If you do not want to deal with the hassle of installing the beta update on these devices, then you can just wait for some weeks until Xiaomi officially releases an OTA update for Android 8.0 Oreo on these devices.
The Xiaomi MI Mix 2 launched as a commendable upgrade of the original Xiaomi Mi Mix. It is a dual-SIM Bezel-less device that features a 5.99-inch full-HD+ LCD screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
