President Trump changes his tone, calls Kim Jong Un 'honorable'

“Kim Jong Un, he really has been very open and I think very honorable from everything we’re seeing,” Trump said.
WASHINGTON — After months of bashing the leader of North Korea, President Donald Trump has taken a softer tone when speaking about Kim Jong Un. While speaking with reporters Tuesday, Trump called the North Korean dictator “very open” and “very honorable” as the two leaders continue to plan for a summit.
According to the Associated Press, the U. S. and North Korea have been negotiating a meeting between Trump and Kim which would focus on brokering a deal on Pyongyang’s nuclear program.
“We have been told directly that they would like to have the meeting as soon as possible. We think that’s a great thing for the world,” Trump said. “Kim Jong Un, he really has been very open and I think very honorable from everything we’re seeing.”
Trump says his goal is to have North Korea get rid of all of its nuclear weapons and has warned that if North Korea isn’t willing to negotiate, he will walk away from discussions.
“We’ll see where that all goes,” Trump said. “Maybe it will be wonderful or maybe it won’t.”
Last fall, Trump and Kim engaged in a Twitter war where the two men exchanged barbs and threats. Trump continually referred to Kim as “little rocket man,” and even threatened to bring “fire and fury” to North Korea.
The date and location of the possible summit between the U. S. and North Korea has yet to be determined.
