OnePlus will launch its next flagship phone OnePlus 6 tomorrow, May 17 in Mumbai. Don’t miss the live-stream of the launch here. The OnePlus 6 is going to be a high-end phone, and will possibly sport a premium look thanks to its body that’s made of metal and glass. The phone is likely to be priced around Rs. 35,000, which will be slightly more expensive when compared to the introductory price of the OnePlus 5T. However, from what we hear of the specs and features, the slightly increased price seems more than fair.
Ahead of the launch, OnePlus has shared many details about the phone. Others have been leaked along with images of the device, the most notable being the full images of the phone that were leaked on May 14 by Amazon on its website in Germany. From the leaks, it is clear that the OnePlus 6 is going to look very different from the OnePlus 5T. While the 5T uses an aluminium body, the OnePlus 6 will come with a design that will see the phone sporting a metal frame sandwiched between glass.
OnePlus had earlier revealed that its engineers settled on the right kind of glass after going through 70 iterations. It is also expected that the OnePlus 6 will feature a water-resistant design and will come with a headphone that has a 3.5mm jack, supporting features like face unlock and dash charging.?
The OnePlus 6 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, the same chip that is also inside other high-end phones this year. It will come with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. While the price of the phone is expected to start around Rs. 35,000, the 256GB variant may end up coming with a price tag that is close to Rs. 45,000.
At the company’s event in London, the keynote address is likely to be delivered by the OnePlus co-founder, Carl Pei. The global launch event will be followed by launch events in India, which is the company’s biggest market, and China on May 17. In India, apart from launching the OnePlus 6, the company will also launch the OnePlus 6: Avengers Infinity War Edition that is expected to come with a different finish compared to what users will get on the regular OnePlus 6.
The OnePlus 6 is expected to come with improved rear cameras, and possibly a better front camera. The phone has a screen that sports a notch, and it has been hinted by OnePlus that their latest flagship phone will come with support for some gestures that will be modelled after what Google is putting in the Android P or what Apple introduced in the iPhone X.
The OnePlus will be available for purchase in India on May 21 in a limited sale. The full sale is likely to open in the last week of May 22.
