Samsung hasn’t launched a mini variant of its flagship Galaxy S series in a while. However, the speculations were rife this time that the brand might actually launch a smaller sibling of its flagship duo – the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ ( review). Recently, a Samsung handset with model number SM-G8850 was spotted on the TENAA and AnTuTu website, which was tipped to be the Galaxy S9 Mini. Now, a new handset with model number SM-G885F has been spotted on FCC, which could be the US variant of the handset.
While the FCC listing of the smartphone doesn’t divulge much, previous leaks have already revealed quite a few specs for the upcoming Galaxy S9 Mini. According to the rumours, the smartphone will feature a 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display. It’s speculated to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor paired with Adreno 512 GPU. The processor is further expected to be mated with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. However, according to the rumours, there will also be a 4GB RAM variant of the phone.
As for the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Mini is tipped to flaunt a pair of either 8-megapixel or 12-megapixel sensors on the back. There’s no leak regarding the selfie camera on the smartphone as of now. On the software front, the phone is expected to run Android 8,0 Oreo with Samsung Experience UI on top. For power requirements, the Galaxy S9 Mini is likely to be equipped with a 3,000mAh battery.
