Michael B. Jordan knows you love “Black Panther”s super cool baddie Eric Killmonger. He also figured enough people love to hate Roseanne Barr so much that his Marvel character didn’t stand a chance at grabbing the Best Villain statue at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards. Luckily, the axed ABC star wasn’t nominated, since the performance that has gained her the most notoriety happened off-screen.
“I’m shocked that I won this award for Best Villain,” Jordan joked when stepping up to the mic to accept the award during the pre-taped show, which was broadcast Monday night. “I thought for sure Roseanne had that in the bag.” The laughter in response to that remark could have earned Jordan the Best Hero statue too — if it hadn’t gone to his co-star Chadwick Boseman for the titular role in “Black Panther.”
Barr’s ABC sitcom was abruptly canceled last month after she tweeted an offensive message about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, suggesting Jarrett is a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and the “Planet of the Apes.”

She apologized, saying that the comment was a “joke” that was “in bad taste,” but the apology was not enough to save the “Roseanne” revival, which had been renewed for a second season after scoring impressive ratings.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement to TheWrap at the time of the cancellation.
