Red Dead Redemption 2 PC has seemingly been outed by one of the game’s developers, with a PC release for the upcoming game being listed on a LinkedIn profile. With Rockstar having yet to formally announced RDR 2 for PC, this is the strongest indication yet that the game will launch on more platforms than the PS4 and Xbox One.
An unnamed programmer who worked with Rockstar from 2009 – 2016 listed the PC version of RDR2 on their profile. The listing was spotted by VG247, with the programmer having previously worked on LA Noire and Grand Theft Auto 5.
A Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release wouldn’t exactly be surprising, with GTA 5 having received the PC treatment following its console launch. However, the listing suggests that Rockstar is working on the PC version of the game in tandem with the PS4 and Xbox One, suggesting that it could come to the platform sooner rather than later.
GTA 5 eventually came to PC, though it first launched on Xbox 360 and PS3. The PC version of the game launched after Rockstar released it on the PS4 and Xbox One, over a year following its initial release. While it took a while to make it to PC, the platform boasted an upgraded version of the game that included a movie-editing suite and improved visuals.
We’re unsure of what Rockstar plans to do with the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. There’s a chance it could launch shortly after the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game and feature the same content, or that PC players could be left waiting again before receiving the definitive version of the game. With it set to launch on consoles on October 26,2018, it’s imaginable that Rockstar will opt for the second option, considering that we’ve received no official statement regarding a PC release.
Rockstar is keeping its card close to its chest regarding RDR 2. The game was notably absent during E3 2018, and the lid has yet to be lifted on its highly anticipated online multiplayer mode. We’ll hopefully hear more from Rockstar sooner rather than later.
