“Say goodbye. Bye. I’m done.”
Judge Jeanine Pirro joined the ladies of “The View” to discuss her book, “Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy,” but after Pirro mentioned “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” co-host Whoopie Goldberg lost her cool.
Co-host Sara Haines started out the interview by saying the book’s title could be “offensive to some.”
“I wrote the book because I am not an ideologue,” Pirro said. “I have been in the crime business for over three decades. […] And know a con when I see it.”
Many in the audience began to laugh at Pirro.
“Lady Justice is supposed to be blind,” Pirro explained. She went on to list the anti-Trump sentiments found in the investigation into disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok.
After being prodded about her support for President Donald Trump by co-host Ana Navarro, Pirro fired back.
“You tell me what metric in this country is worse off,” she said. “Unemployment is lower than it’s been in 50 years, minorities, Hispanics, African-Americans…”
“That’s because of President Obama,” co-host Sunny Hostin replied.
“Hate crimes are worse off,” Navarro added.
Pirro then pointed toward Navarro and Goldberg and said they were “suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.” That’s where things got out of hand:
GOLDBERG: Did you just point at me?
PIRRO: Yeah.
GOLDBERG: Listen, I don’t have Trump Derangement. Let me tell you what I have. I have a lot of — I’m tired of people starting a conversation with, ‘Mexicans are liars and rapists.’ I’m tired of people starting a conversation about this country. Listen, I’m 62 years old, and there have been a lot of people in office that I didn’t agree with, but I have never, ever seen anything like this. I’ve never seen anybody whip up such hate. I’ve never seen anybody be so dismissive. And clearly, you don’t watch this show, so you don’t know that I don’t suffer from that. What I suffer from is the inability to figure out how to fix this. That’s my issue. But one of the things you talk about a lot, and I’m curious about it, is the ‘deep state.’ How long has the deep state been there, and who’s running it?”
PIRRO: I want to answer your question because you gave your opening statement, which was how horrible it is that Donald Trump is talking about all of these people. Whoopie, you know what’s horrible? When people who shouldn’t be here end up murdering the children of Americans.
GOLDBERG: What’s horrible is when the president of the United States whips up people to beat the hell out of people. Say goodbye. Bye. I’m done.
Pirro and Goldberg shouted over one another until Goldberg called it off, ripping up her note cards as the show went to a commercial break.
This is not the first time a host from “The View” has lost her cool. Hosts have stormed out of several episodes, including during interviews with guests like Bill O’Reilly. Conflicts between hosts have also erupted, including one between former co-hosts Rosie O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Goldberg apparently calmed down during the commercial break.
“I very rarely lose my cool, and I’m not proud of it,” she said. “I don’t like it. But I also don’t like being accused of being hysterical because that is one of the things I try not to be on this show.”
