WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said Friday that a mass of moisture south and east along the North Carolina coast near the southern South Carolina coast could mean wet weather for the Raleigh area.
“We certainly do need some rain and it looks like we’ll be getting some more and more over coming days, especially as we head into next week,” he said, adding that the biggest threat of precipitation will be during the overnight hours into Saturday.
But as that system moves north and east, it will usher in drier air for the Triangle although the risk of rain will be greatest late Saturday afternoon into the nighttime.
“The chance for thunderstorms and showers will be primarily confined to the late afternoon and nighttime hours,” Fishel said.
