A woman’s southwest Houston apartment caught fire Thursday morning after she left the burner on overnight, according to Metro Video.
The fire was reported around 12:15 a.m. at an apartment on South Gessner and Imogene.
The woman was cooking on the stove before bed and accidentally left a burner on, catching nearby paper towels on fire and spreading to the rest of the kitchen, Metro Video reported.
She got out safely with her dog and was not injured.
The kitchen has fire damage, and the rest of the apartment has smoke and water damage, according to Metro Video.
The woman’s apartment unit was the only one affected in the complex.
