Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caught a showing of the smash-hit musical “Hamilton” in London on Wednesday — and Harry even joined the cast on stage to sing a bit of a song.
After the show at London’s Victoria Palace Theatre, Harry opened his address by teasing the start of the musical’s song “You’ll be Back” — performed by the character of King George, a villain in the musical who in real life was Harry’s sixth great-grandfather.
Harry began “You’ll say…” before laughing as the crowd erupted in applause. “That’s definitely not going to happen,” he joked, cutting short his rendition of the song.
“He did try, but I said no,” Harry said, suggesting that “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda — who had joined him on stage — had wanted the Prince to belt out a number from the musical.
Proceeds from the performance went to Harry’s Setebale charity, which works with young people affected by HIV in Botswana and Lesotho. People reports that tickets for Wednesday’s show went for between $25 and $30 along with a charitable donation.
In his speech, Harry said those present had “raised a huge amount of money” to change the lives of thousands of children in Botswana and Lesotho.
“And through that work that we’re going to be doing now, we’ll be able to stop the generational hand down of stigma around HIV,” he added.

Harry and Meghan were seated beside Miranda for the show, which arrived in London in 2017 with a different cast from the US version following its huge Broadway success.
The show tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton during the American War of Independence.

Miranda told reporters that it was a “huge honour” to have the royals as fans of the show, People reports.
“You don’t get that every day,” he said. “You get heads of state, we’ve had some popular folks come see our show, but you don’t often get a direct descendant of one of your main characters.”
Harry and Meghan joined the cast and crew backstage before the performance, where they posed for photographs.
