OPPO sub-brand Realme launched its second smartphone in India yesterday, dubbed the Realme 2. At the smartphone’s launch event, the company teased the Realme 2 Pro, a higher-end variant of the Realme 2. According to a new report, the smartphone will be launched in India in the last week of September.
An exclusive report published by the folks over at TheMobileIndian claims the Realme 2 Pro will be launched in India at an event to be held on September 28,2018. The official teaser released by Realme did confirm that the smartphone will be released in September, although we cannot be entirely sure if the actual launch date will indeed be September 28. Realme partnered with Amazon for its first smartphone, the Realme 1. For its second smartphone, however, the company joined hands with Flipkart. It remains to be seen if Realme plans to continue its partnership with Flipkart for the Realme 2 Pro or if it intends to team up with Amazon India once again.
Realme 2 First Impressions, Hands-On: Most Premium Looking Phone Below Rs.10,000?
The Realme 2 Pro, claims the report, will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset under the hood. Since the smartphone is expected to be priced higher than the Realme 2, we can expect the company to utilize either a Snapdragon 636 or Snapdragon 660 SoC for the Pro version. Speaking to TheMobileIndia, Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India has said that the upcoming Realme 2 Pro will offer “best of the processor and best of design”. The best option currently, at least in the budget smartphone segment, is the Snapdragon 660 chipset. As for the design, Realme has impressed with both the Realme 1 and Realme 2 smartphones, so we are pretty sure that the Realme 2 Pro will be no less impressive.
Since no Realme 2 Pro-related leaks have surfaced on the web yet, there is nothing that we know about the upcoming smartphone. However, we can expect it to share some of the key features of the Realme 2. It will likely sport a notched display similar to the Realme2 but with higher Full HD+ resolution instead HD+. Realme fans can also look forward to a dual-camera setup at the rear with AI-powered features and a higher resolution selfie camera with AI Beauty mode. Connectivity-wise, the Realme 2 Pro is expected to support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and 4G VoLTE. In terms of software, the Realme 2 Pro is expected to ship with the Android 8.1 Oreo -based ColorOS 5.1. The report confirms that the Realme 1, Realme 2, and Realme 2 Pro will be upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie sometime early next year. Along with an upgrade to Android Pie, the update will also come with OPPO’s ColorOS 5.2 version, which is likely to come with a few new features and enhancements to help deliver a superior software experience to its users.

The report claims the Realme 2 Pro will be priced significantly higher than the Realme 2 but will still be priced under the Rs.20,000 mark. This means the Realme 2 Pro might be a direct rival to smartphones like the Xiaomi Mi A2 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
