Xiaomi’s youth-centric budget offering, the Redmi Y2 is going on sale today at 12pm on both Amazon and Mi.com and we’ve got everything you need to know, right here. The Redmi Y2 is the much anticipated successor to last year’s Redmi Y1. Much like the Redmi Y1, the Y2 is also targeted towards the young selfie-obsessed generation of our country, and it does a great job at that. So let’s take a closer look at the pricing and offers going on for the Y2 and its specifications and features.
Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 2.1 Now Available for Sale in India
The Redmi Y2 will be going on sale on Amazon as well as Mi.com at 12pm today (14th August). The Redmi Y2 comes in two variants: a 3GB RAM, 32GB storage variant which is priced at Rs 9,999; and a 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant which sells for Rs 12,999. However, in this sale, only the 3GB RAM (32GB storage) variant will be made available. Notably, the 4GB RAM (64GB storage) variant of the Redmi Y2 is available for purchase normally via Amazon, so you don’t have to wait for any sale if you’re looking to buy the 4GB RAM variant.
On buying the phone through Amazon, Airtel users can avail up to Rs 1800 in cashback and additional 240GB data on purchasing the Redmi Y2. The Rs 1800 cashback offer and 240GB extra data from Airtel is valid on buying the phone from Xiaomi store (Mi.com) as well. Additionally, you get to avail free 3-month subscription of Hungama Music on purchasing the phone from Mi.com. Buyers will also have the option to secure their phone against accidental & liquid damages with Mi Protect scheme, which has a starting price of Rs 799.
The Redmi Y2 features a 2018 looking metal body with extra-tall display design, thanks to the 5.99-inch Fullview display with 18:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. It runs on Snapdragon 625 chipset and comes with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, with either 32GB or 64GB storage options to choose from. It features a dual 12MP+5MP camera setup at the back with AI features and large 1.25 micron pixel size, for enhanced low-light photography. The Redmi Y2 offers very similar specifications to the Redmi Note 5. They feature the same RAM and storage variants (3/4GB RAM and 32/64GB storage) and are also powered by the same Snapdragon 625 processor. Their pricing is tied neck-to-neck too, with the Note 5 selling for 9,999 and 11,999 for its respective variants. Where the Note 5 pulls ahead is its huge 4000mAh battery. However, the Redmi Y2 features a much better camera setup both at the front and the back. If you think cameras are not the first priority for you and you’d rather have a bigger battery, you can consider the Redmi Note 5. Here’s what we think of the phone:
