Michael Moore returns to the same formula that made 2004’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” one of the highest grossing documentaries ever – bloviating for an hour-plus on America’s coming doomsday if the current president gets reelected.
Moore’s latest film, brought to us by none other than #MeToo father Harvey Weinstein, serves as a sequel to his 2004 hit. It is aptly titled “Fahrenheit 11/9″ in reference to the day after Trump became President. The intention of this film sounds familiar: ” bring Trump down ” before the November midterm elections. Moore’s last film failed to oust Bush; this film will most likely embolden Trump supporters even more.
HuffPo got an exclusive view of the trailer accompanied by an interview with Moore himself.
The first film characterized the Bush presidency as a sham that stole the 2000 election from Vice President Al Gore. Several shots in the trailer for the new film reference Trump’s supposed dog-whistling to white supremacists and even feature a cross-burning ritual alongside a burning swastika.
The trailer also features “cameo” interviews with leftist newcomers such as David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez, the Parkland massacre survivors. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also makes an appearance where she touts herself as the leader of a coming revolution.
In a show of unapologetic fear-mongering, the trailer closes with Moore issuing this dire warning as an image of Trump fades in: “Ladies and gentlemen, the last President of the United States.”
Speaking with HuffPo, Moore said the Americans have no idea that a tyrant now holds public office and will steamroll over every institution.
“Our media has no idea what it is up against,” said Moore. “They’re getting steamrolled by a tyrant because Trump understands media and understands the country he lives in more than those that cover him do. This puts us all in grave danger. If nothing else, I hope this film exposes that grave danger and shows people the way out.”
The movie will probably bomb like Moore’s previous films, not to mention his failed Broadway show .
