Beto O'Rourke Condemns Protesters Who Accosted Ted Cruz, Gets Bashed

Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke isn’t having the greatest week.
Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke isn’t having the greatest week. He’s still trailing Cruz by nine points, according to the latest Quinnipiac poll and he got a four-Pinocchio rating from the Washington Post for claiming, in a debate, that he did not leave the scene of an accident he caused while driving drunk.
And now, he’s taking a licking on Twitter for admonishing a group of protesters who accosted Ted Cruz and his family while the ate dinner at a Washington, D. C. restaurant.
Perhaps sensing he needed to build bridges rather than burn them, Beto made an impassioned plea to his followers not to acknowledge, support, or repeat Monday night’s debacle.
It turns out, though, that there are no bridges to be built with Republicans, as Beto’s followers soon informed him. How dare he suggest Ted Cruz didn’t deserve to have his meal interrupted by screaming “anti-Fascists?” He deserves it!
It goes on.
Beto may just be looking for a way to appeal to a more respect-minded Texan voter, but much of his support comes from progressives outside the state of Texas who aren’t so much interested in bipartisan solutions as they are beating Ted Cruz.
