The winner of the defensive player of the week will be invited, along with one guest, to the 2019 Detroit Free Press Sports Awards.

Here are the nominees, selected from Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Washtenaw counties. Once a player has won the honor, he is not eligible to win/be nominated for the rest of the season on that side of the ball:
Antonio Bobo-Brown, LB/DE, Detroit Community: Piled up 15 tackles and three sacks in 24-0 win over Detroit Voyageur.
Adam Long, DT, Madison Heights Madison: Recorded 15 tackles in 41-18 win over Warren Fitzgerald.
Joel Radvansky, LB, Warren Woods Tower: Led a strong defensive effort with 18 tackles in 50-16 victory over Clinton Twp. Clintondale.
Nico Tiberia, DB, Allen Park: Racked up 12 tackles in 21-7 win against Brownstown Woodhaven.
