Michigan football played through its 49-3 win over Western Michigan on Saturday at Michigan Stadium with a thin interior defensive line.
Fifth-year senior Lawrence Marshall and sophomore Aubrey Solomon both missed the game with injuries. Marshall was in street clothes while Solomon, who hinted at a surgical procedure on his social media page this week, was not with the team.
Neither is expected to be out long-term, though, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said.
“They were both going through something this week,” Harbaugh said. “(Expect them back) sooner rather than later.”

With both out, Michigan played junior Carlo Kemp and fifth-year senior Bryan Mone inside against the Broncos. Junior Michael Dwumfour also saw time in Michigan’s rotation.
Kemp, making the first start of his career, had two tackles as the Wolverines held WMU to 208 yards of total offense. The Wolverines have converted the Colorado native to a defensive tackle, though he can also still play defensive end.
Michigan (1-1) returns to the field next Saturday against SMU (3:30 p.m., BTN).
