A Connecticut man was identified Sunday as the person killed in a small-plane crash in the waters off of Long Island, police said.
Raj Persaud, 41, of Waterbury, Connecticut, was killed when the seven-seat, twin-engine Piper PA-34 went down about a mile off Quogue at about 11 a.m. on Saturday, New York state police said.
Persaud, the owner of the plane, was with two other people onboard the flight, police said. The bodies of the two other passengers have not been recovered and they’ve not been identified.
The plane had been flying from Danbury, Conn., to Charleston, SC, when it lost radio contact with air-traffic controllers prior to the crash, officials told The Post.
Surfers who were on the water called the authorities after they witnessed it break apart and crash into the water on Saturday.
