The 2020 Toyota Corolla is set for reveal at an event on Thursday evening. The Japanese automaker has been gradually whetting the appetite of car enthusiasts, first with a teaser video out of China, and now with a new photo of the front end.
The teaser video for the 2020 Toyota Corolla didn’t reveal anything more than a vague silhouette of the car, but we do see more details in the photo released today. The design of the headlights calls to mind the new design of the 2019 Corolla hatchback, which was revealed earlier this year. It’s only natural to expect the new sedan version of the car to share some design features with the new hatchback version.
The front grille of the Corolla has been redesigned and now looks a bit more aggressive than that of its predecessor. As far as performance, we expect a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine with 168 horsepower. It’s still unclear whether Toyota will offer a manual transmission as an option.
The new teaser photo doesn’t show the sides or rear of the 2020 Toyota Corolla, so we will have to wait for Thursday night’s media event to see them. The Japan-based automaker did say that it has redesigned the platform of the car, making it the 12 th generation, so we can expect even more changes in the rest of the car. The Corolla has been long overdue for a major redesign, so fans will probably be excited to see what Toyota has in store for them.
If you want to be among the first to check out the North American version of the 2020 Toyota Corolla, you can watch the live-stream of the media event here on Thursday at 7 p.m. Pacific/ 9 p.m. Eastern. However, consumers won’t be able to see the new version of the hugely popular sedan until the LA Auto Show later this month into early December.
The global version of the car is set for reveal on Friday at the Guangzhou International Exhibition in China .
