A Michigan man was arrested after a woman’s dismembered body was found in the basement of his home, police said.
Jared James Chance, 29, was charged Tuesday with mutilation of a dead body and concealing the death of an individual after police in Grand Rapids responded to a Franklin Street home on Sunday after they were alerted to suspicious activity, Sgt. Dan Adams told reporters Tuesday.
Responding officers then searched the two-unit home and found partial remains of what appeared to be a woman, Adams said. Chance was located in an upstairs apartment and detained.
“The investigation is still ongoing,” Adams told reporters . “It’s a very sensitive investigation.
