Showers and thunderstorms expected early Sunday should clear by mid-afternoon, giving residents of the Treasure and Space coasts a mostly unobstructed view of the “super blood wolf moon” Sunday night.
“All hope is not lost,” said Will Ulrich, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Melbourne. “It’s not a done deal, especially since it’s a few days out, but that front does look like it will move through the first half of the day Sunday.”
By late afternoon or early evening, cool, dry air moves in, breaking up some of the cloud cover, hopefully providing residents with a decent view of the eclipse Sunday night.
“When it hits totality, the skies should be in the process of clearing,” he said.
The first phase of the eclipse, known as the penumbral phase, will begin at 9:36 p.m., according to Accuweather, a private weather forecasting firm in State College, Pennsylvania. However, the moon might not become noticeably darker until the partial phase of the eclipse begins at 10:34 p.
