Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella reveals that the battle royale game Apex Legends could eventually receive new and bigger maps at some point in the future.
Not too long ago, Respawn Entertainment design director Mackey McCandlish explained that the studio hoped to make the recently released battle royale title Apex Legends have so much longevity that it becomes a 10-year game. In order to do this, the developer would need to imbue the title with a lot of post-launch assets to keep players coming back for more, and it looks like one way of fulfilling this could be incorporating new and bigger maps down on the line.
According to Respawn Entertainment co-founder and CEO Vince Zampella, the studio is “chasing fun” with the creation of Apex Legends, and it tried both bigger and smaller maps before eventually settling on what is currently the game’s only playable area of Kings Canyon.
