Jason Momoa Shaves His Beard, For The Ocean's Sake

Jason Momoa has shaved off his magnificent beard, and in the process, helped raise awareness for a good cause.
The former Game of Thrones star is just about to film Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune, playing the role of swordfighter Duncan Idaho, an expert in hand-to-hand combat (of course). The new role demanded a new look, and Momoa used the opportunity to draw attention to the wasteful nature of single-use plastics, specifically, plastic water bottles, suggesting we all start using (and reusing), aluminum instead.
It was a suitable gesture from Aquaman, protector of the sea, hopefully one that makes a positive impact on the very real issue of single-use plastic pollution; those floating islands of plastic are not fictional, as outlandish as they sound.
The loss of the seven-year-old beard marks a fresh new era for Momoa, whose distinctively shaggy look was associated with warrior king Khal Drogo, and helped modernize the character of Aquaman, introducing a bedraggled hipster aesthetic to the formerly smooth-faced blond.
