Star big man Joel Embiid was a shocking late scratch for the 76ers against the Nets for Game 3 of their first-round playoff series at Barclays Center. As it turned out, the Nets still couldn’t stop the Sixers.
The Nets’ defense went on vacation as the Sixers shot 48.4 percent overall from the field and 11-for-27 from 3-point range in a 131-115 victory Thursday night.
The Nets gave up 86 points combined to Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and JJ Redick.
After locking down Redick in their Game 1 win in Philadelphia, the Nets said letting him get loose for 26 points was the X-factor.
“We’d done a better job of containing Redick,” Spencer Dinwiddie said. “That’s what makes their offense explosive, so he got loose tonight and that was a big thing.
“You knew with Embiid out, Tobias was going to get more attempts and score more. What makes their offense super-potent is JJ.
