Venturing out of his home state for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown began, presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden escalated his attacks on President Trump and said the killing of George Floyd was a “wake up call” for the nation.
Venturing out of his home state for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown began, presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden escalated his attacks on President Trump and said the killing of George Floyd was a “wake-up call” for the nation.
The former vice president’s speech at Philadelphia City Hall — his first campaign appearance outside Delaware during the coronavirus pandemic — was an attempt to seize political advantage amid nationwide protests and violence over the Floyd killing at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer.
“The country is crying out for leadership, leadership that can unite us,” Biden said.
Trump campaign officials immediately shot back that Biden was making a “crass political calculation that unrest in America is a benefit to his candidacy.”
Biden is making a calculation that he can no longer just stay in his basement while America is facing racial unrest and a health care crisis at the same time.
