The top-ranked Carlisle softball team improved to 16-3 overall with a trio of wins in the past week.
The defending Class 4A champions enter the postseason Saturday, hosting the winner of a regional first-round game between Knoxville (9-4) and Pella (3-14). Carlisle finished the regular season atop the Raccoon River Conference standings at 8-0.
In the final week of the regular season, Carlisle won 9-2 at Carroll on July 6, beat West Marshall 12-0 at home on July 8 and capped the season with a 6-1 win over Webster City on July 10.
In the win over Webster City, junior Aubrey Furnal drove in two runs on two hits and senior Meredith Hoffman had a pair of RBIs on three hits. Seniors Kennedy Preston and Kennady Prenosil also each drove in a run. Senior Molly Hoekstra worked six innings in the pitching circle allowing one earned run on four hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Junior Lexi Link allowed a hit and struck out two in an inning of work.
In the 12-0 win over West Marshall, Hoffman homered and drove in three runs while Prenosil had three RBIs on two hits. Over three innings of work, Hoekstra limited West Marshall to a single hit, a walk and a hit batter with two strikeouts.
