Feb.23 (UPI) — A joint meeting of two Senate committees convened Tuesday to examine the origins and impact of the Jan.6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, starting with testimony from four officials who played key roles on that day. The Senate’s homeland security and governmental affairs committee and rules committee began the hearing at 10 a.m. EST. It is the first of a series of oversight hearings organized by Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., the rules committee chairwoman, into the mob attack. Five people died as a result of the attack, which was organized and led by radical supporters of former President Donald Trump.
