The Biden administration is not discussing a multi-nation boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing because of human rights violations by China, the White House said Wednesday, appearing to walk back statements by a State Department spokesman a day earlier. White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s comments came amid mounting calls, both domestically and internationally, to boycott the Beijing Games because of what a recent State Department report characterized as China’s “genocide and crimes against humanity” against the Uyghurs, a predominantly Muslim minority community, and the Xi Jinping regime’s response to protests in Hong Kong.
