Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) was charged Friday with manslaughter and other crimes for its role in sparking the 2020 Zogg wildfire, which killed four people and destroyed over 200 buildings — another legal challenge in the company’s fraught history with California wildfires. The nation’s largest utility, PG&E has faced legal challenges in the past, pleading guilty to 84 counts of involuntary manslaughter in 2018 over a wildfire that destroyed the town of Paradise in northern California and demolished more than 18,000 buildings.
