Spotify debuted its first “bookcast” on Wednesday, a serialized podcast featuring audiobook excerpts from Run, Rose, Run, the novel co-authored by Dolly Parton and James Patterson, and an original soundtrack for the book from the country music star—a triumph for the streaming giant following the controversy surrounding podcaster Joe Rogan. $350 million. That’s Parton’s net worth, according to Forbes estimates, adding her to Forbes ’ Richest Self-Made Women list in 2021. Spotify became embroiled in controversy in January after Neil Young demanded to have his music pulled off the streaming platform in protest of Rogan’s spread of misinformation about Covid-19 vaccines on his podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience.
