The 46-year-old actor, best known for his role as the young Sioux tribe member Smiles A Lot in the 1990 Kevin Costner film, was charged on Monday.
Nathan Chasing Horse – who appeared in the Oscar-winning film Dances With Wolves – has been formally charged with sex trafficking, sexual assault and child abuse in Nevada.
The former Hollywood actor allegedly targeted indigenous girls, with Las Vegas police saying at least six victims had been identified.
One said she was allegedly being abused when she was 13 – and another claimed that she was offered to Chasing Horse as a “gift” when she was 15.
Following his appearance in Dances With Wolves, Chasing Horse gained a reputation among tribes across the United States and in Canada as a so-called medicine man who performed healing ceremonies.
