Actor Joe Don Baker died May 7 at the age of 89.
Baker was best known for his roles as Sheriff Buford Pusser in the 1973 action-thriller “Walking Tall” and Claude Kersek in “Cape Fear.”
He also played villain Brad Whitaker in the 1987 James Bond film “The Living Daylights”
A tribute to Baker’s life and achievements was shared in an obituary Tuesday by Legacy Remembers. Baker was remembered as “a beacon of kindness and generosity.”
His cause of death was not disclosed.
“Throughout his life, Joe Don touched many lives with his warmth and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him,” the obituary said.
“His intellectual curiosity made him a voracious reader, inspiring a great love of nature and animals, particularly cats,” the obituary continued.
