‘Spider-Man ’94’ Comic Will Pick Up Right Where the Animated Series Left Off

Last year, ‘X-Men ’97’ teased some resolve to that massive cliffhanger fans have been hanging on since 1998.
Spider-Man: The Animated Series remains a fan favorite nearly 30 years after its conclusion—and it’s not just that giant cliffhanger ending that makes people wish it would return, though that’s certainly a motivating factor. While the first season of X-Men ’97 did wink at the Spidey ending in its own finale last year, Marvel’s current animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has its own continuity going. However, a new Marvel comic will dive right back into The Animated Series story proper, starting where it left off.
IGN reports four-issue limited series Spider-Man ’94 (so named because Spider-Man: The Animated Series debuted that year on Fox Kids Network) will show that Peter’s search for MJ (the real MJ, not her clone) was indeed successful—as X-Men ’97 suggested with that MJ cameo—and they’re both back in New York in time to face a pair of notorious, new-to-them villains.
