The Phantom Troupe’s end might be inevitable in HxH. Here’s why.
Hunter x Hunter has always been known for its amazing cast of antagonists, with the most popular being none other than the Phantom Troupe. The Troupe have been involved in the story multiple times, but this arc, the Succession Contest, might be their very last.

The Phantom Troupe, also known as the Spider, is one of the most popular and beloved group of antagonists in HxH, and in all of anime. Fans heard about them prior to seeing them through Kurapika during the Hunter Exam arc. Togashi revealed a good look of the group as a whole during the Yorknew City arc, which was centered on them greatly and had them as the main antagonists.
The Phantom Troupe is led by Chrollo Lucilfer, a powerful specialist nen user who has the ability to steal other people’s nen abilities – if certain conditions are met. This makes Chrollo one of the most powerful characters in HxH. When it comes to the members of the Phantom Troupe, fans know the characters have changed in the past, mainly due to being killed and replaced. The original founding members of the Spider were, however, Chrollo, Pakunoda, Feitan, Machi, Uvogin, Nobunaga, Shalnark, Franklin, and Phinks. Hisoka was also a part of the Spider for some time, but he betrayed them and left as his only motivation for even joining them in the first place was to fight Chrollo.
The Phantom Troupe was formed due to the death of Sarsa, a small girl whom the others were friends with, who was kidnapped, tortured, and killed. Ever since then, the Phantom Troupe have been a group of thieves who have killed people involved with Sarsa’s death. They’re also known for the massacre of the Kurta clan, Kurapika’s clan, that led him down the path he is on right now. Kurapika killed two of the founding members of the Troupe, Uvogin and Pakunoda.
