#SkypeDown once again in Europe and in some parts of the US
No details have been provided on the regions that are affected by the outage, but it looks like Europe and some parts are the United States are unable to connect to Skype. Skype is also down for us, with the service failing to update conversations and to send and receive new messages.
The software giant explained in a short statement that “we’ re aware users are still experiencing problems and we’ re looking into this.”
The first connectivity problems were experienced on June 19, when some users in Europe and in the United States complained that their clients no longer worked. Windows, Mac, Linux, and mobile applications are all down.
In an original message posted yesterday, Microsoft confirmed the issues, but updated the statement five hours later to reveal that a fix was delivered and the service was restored.
“We are aware of an incident where users will either lose connectivity to the application and may be unable to send or receive messages. Some users will be unable to see a black bar that indicates them that a group call is ongoing, and longer delays in adding users to their buddy list, ” Microsoft said.
Judging from the number of reports posted on Twitter, this second outage is primarily impacting Europe, and a live outage map provided by DownDetector seems to confirm this. Belarus, Russia, Poland, Germany, and some parts of Spain are said to be hit the hardest, while some users in France still appear to be able to connect to Skype.
There’s obviously no workaround for the time being and we’ re waiting for Microsoft to deliver a fix. We’ ll be updating the article over the next few hours as more information is provided.
