No one injured in two-alarm Algiers house fire

Two houses were damaged by the blaze, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.
Fire destroyed an Algiers home and damaged the house next door early Sunday morning (Aug. 20) . But the New Orleans Fire Department reports that no one was injured in the two-alarm blaze.
The fire was reported at 3: 06 a.m. in the 3500 block of Red Oak Court. The two-story home was fully involved when crews arrived, with flames shooting from the roof, the department said.
Firefighters tried to search the home and extinguish the blaze from inside, but the roof was collapsing and the fire was too intense, according to the department. Neighbors told firefighters no one was home.
Crews are expected to return later Sunday morning to search the house.
Heat from the flames damaged a house to the right of the residence, but the fire did not spread. Crews had the fire under control by 3: 44 a.m.
