HBO is distancing itself from Louis C. K. following sexual harassment claims against him.
The network has had a close relationship with the comic since early in his career, airing his first TV project “Lucky Louis” in 2006, as well as a number of his blockbuster standup specials.
But on Thursday, after a number of women accused C. K. of masturbating in front of them, HBO announced it would remove his work from its on demand service and that he would no longer be performing at it annual fundraiser later this month.
The network released a statement Thursday evening saying, “Louis C. K. will no longer be participating in the ‘Night of Too Many Stars: America Unites for Autism Programs,’ which will be presented live on HBO on November 18. In addition, HBO is removing Louis C. K.’s past projects from its On Demand services.”
C. K. has made a number of specials for HBO, including “Oh my God,” “Chewed Up” and “Shameless.”
In a report published on Thursday in the New York Times, multiple women alleged inappropriate sexual behavior the comedian — including claiming he masturbated in front of them or while on the phone with them.
C. K. has declined to comment on the claims.
