Xur returns with new exotic armor pieces, an exotic weapon, and some special consumables. Find out which are worth Destiny 2 players‘ money in this week’s report.
While the Destiny 2 community is still coming to turns with the return of the Faction Rally and its limited weapon pool, exotic vendor Xur has swooped in to offer his own selection of items. Unfortunately, this is a week where Xur is unlikely to please many players, but he still has that Fated Engram for those looking to fill out their exotic collection.
This week, Destiny 2 players can find Xur in The Tower. This is only the second time that Xur has appeared in The Tower since Destiny 2’s launch, so consider this a surprise location and one that not many players are familiar with.
Specifically, Xur is in the Hangar section of The Tower, behind the Dead Orbit faction leader, Arach Jalal. Head to the left after spawning in, follow the path until you reach the big open area, turn to the left again and head to the very back near the edge overlooking Earth. Xur will be up a few stairs in an awning type area.
Xur’s exotic armor selection includes the Transversive Steps boots for Warlocks, the Actium War Rig chest piece for Titans, and the Knucklehead Radar helmet for Hunters.
Transversive Steps are a popular exotic for Warlocks in the Crucible since they give increased speed and reload energy weapons at the same time. Now that Destiny 2’s PvP is focused on teamwork, getting in and out of situations quickly is a huge plus.
The Titan chest piece is a popular item even if it was available as part of the main story quest. With it equipped, players will continuously feed bullets into their auto rifles from their reserves. In essence, the Actium War Rig makes auto rifles fire for longer.
And finally, the Knucklehead Radar helmet should be plenty familiar to Destiny players, as it is a returning exotic from the first game. Like in D1, the helmet keeps the player’s radar active while aiming down sights – a useful perk for PvP and situational awareness.
Xur has the Tractor Cannon exotic shotgun for sale this week, a cool-looking weapon but one that isn’t very popular. No question the Tractor Cannon can lead to some funny kills in the Crucible since it basically pushes enemies into walls to damage them, but in PvE it is hardly used. Under the right circumstances and with the right sandbox gameplay changes, we could see the Tractor Cannon becoming Destiny 2’s version of the No Land Beyond – an exotic that was thought useless but eventually becomes really fun to use in PvP.
