Jesper Kyd will be composing the music for Warhammer Vermintide 2, returning to the game after composing the music for the original game as well.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2, the sequel to the Warhammer: The End Times: Vermintide game that came out in 2015 for the PC, and came out on Xbox One and Playstation 4 in 2016. Jesper Kyd, who was composer on Assassin’s Creed games, Darksiders 2, Borderlands, and State of Decay, also composed for the first Vermintide game.
Vermintide 2 will be continuing the story of the original Vermintide game, which focused on a group of characters who come to the city of Ubersreik to battle a horde of ratlike creatures known as the Skaven, who are attacking the city. The game serves as a backdrop to the Warhammer setting’s “End Times” storyline, where the “good” races of the Warhammer World attempt to save the world from being destroyed by the evil Forces of Chaos.
The game’s gameplay is similar to Left 4 Dead, with players battling hordes of easily killable enemies while accomplishing objectives along the way, and picking up healing items or buffs in various safe areas. Vermintide 2 will be more of its own thing, adding in a new faction of enemies called the Rotborn, a new setting in the form of the city of Helmgart, and new classes for each of its characters.
While the game doesn’t have a concrete release date, just a window of spring of this year, if Jesper Kyd is working on the game then it’s likely to at least have good music. The previous game’s music was suitably maddened string instruments and frenzied drums, and it’s likely that this game will have a similar method of composition.
If you want to see some of Jesper Kyd’s work, you can either buy the original Vermintide game for the PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4, or you can buy one of his other games like Darksiders 2, Assassin’s Creed 2 or other games that worked with him, or Borderlands and State of Decay.
