After much delays, Apple finally made the HomePod available in selected countries this year. However, it looks like the issues haven’t ended yet for the company. The Apple HomePod as you might have guessed relies heavily on Apple’s ecosystem which means if you don’t have iPhone or Apple Music then probably you should skip HomePod but we aren’t talking about that.
As it turns out, Apple’s HomePod can destroy your home furniture. If you plan to keep your HomePod on furniture then be prepared for white rings. Apple did acknowledge this issue and said “the marks can improve over several days after the speaker is removed from the wood surface,” and also recommended that users “try cleaning the surface with the manufacturer’s suggested oiling method” if the white rings don’t fade”.
A simple solution to the issue is to use a cloth or something like that on the bottom of the speaker (if you’re okay with it interfering with the sound) or you can just find another spot which is not made of wood. Apple is yet to share if they have a permanent fix for the issue or if they’re going to replace the units. For now, you can just make sure to keep your HomePods away from the furniture.
