Trump has privately petitioned congressional leaders recently — telling House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) last week that the military should pony up the $25 billion needed to erect the massive divider, The Washington Post reported.
Trump also made the suggestion that the Department of Defense fund his border barrier to several advisers last week, according to the newspaper.

The funds were not in the omnibus spending bill approved by Congress last week, a point Trump made as he reluctantly signed the legislation into law.
“National defense is a very important two words,” Trump said during a signing ceremony on Friday. “Because by having a strong border system, including a wall, we are in a position, militarily, that is very advantageous.”
Trump campaigned on the promise that he would build the structure and somehow make Mexico foot the bill.
“Build WALL through M!” Trump tweeted on Sunday, apparently referring to the U. S. military, not Mexico.
