If the Mi TV 4, which was launched last month, tried to take 4K UHD TVs mainstream, then the newly launched 32-inch and 43-inch Mi TV 4A can be seen as an attempt by Xiaomi to take Smart TVs mainstream. On Wednesday, the Chinese company announced two new Mi TVs in India just a few weeks after introducing the Mi TV 4. While the Mi TV 4 is a 4K Smart TV, the 32-inch and 43-inch Mi TV 4A come with HD and full-HD resolutions, respectively, at a lower price point.
The Mi TV 4 has seen a fantastic response in India since its launch in February, having been sold out in seconds in all three flash sales that have taken place so far, to the annoyance of many who have been unable to complete the checkout process. The new Mi TV 4A aims to attract consumers looking to transition from their regular old TV to a Smart TV. With affordable price tags, the two new Mi TVs will likely garner a greater response from consumers in India compared to the Mi TV 4.
The three Mi TVs launched so far strategically aim to appeal consumers at three distinct categories. The entry-level 32-inch Mi TV 4A comes with a standard HD resolution (1366×768 pixel) while the 43-inch Mi TV 4A sports a full-HD 1080p resolution. The other major difference between them is that the low-end variant comes with 3 HDMI ports (including 1 ARC port) and 2 USB ports while the 43-inch Mi TV 4A gets 3 HDMI ports and 3 USB ports along with an S/PDIF port.
As far as similarities are concerned, both the Mi TVs support a refresh rate of 60Hz and are powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Amlogic T962 Cortex-A53 processor paired with Mali-T450 GPU. Both the variants will be offered with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of flash storage. Connectivity options remain the same as well Wi-Fi (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 4.0, along with two 20W stereo speakers with DTS sound support.
The Mi TV 4, on the other hand, is Xiaomi’s premium affordable TV (if one can call it that) as it supports 4K UHD resolution (2160×3840) and a contrast ratio of 6000:1. Apart from offering 4K resolution, the Mi TV 4 highlights an ultra slim design at just 4.9mm in thickness. It is powered by a 1.8GHz quad-core Amlogic T968 Cortex-A53 processor coupled with Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. You get 2GB of DDR4 RAM and 8GB flash storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 4.0, along with two 8W speakers with support for Dolby audio and DTS. Additionally, the Mi TV 4 comes with 2 USB ports, 3 HDMI ports and one Ethernet port.

All three Mi TVs run Xiaomi’s custom ROM called PatchWall based on Android. The OS has been customised for the Indian audience and PatchWalls AI has the ability to learn a user’s viewing habits and suggest content based on that. Xiaomi says that its software tries to show more content on one screen as quickly as possible, or through the shortest possible path. Xiaomi has partnered with 12 content providers in India to offer Indic content like Hotstar and Voot with over 500,000 hours of content.
Another similarity all three Mi TVs share is set-top-box integration. The TVs will support almost every prominent set-top box that’s available in India like Tata Sky and Dish TV as well as local players like Hathway and Siti cable. The Mi TV 4A will also ship with a Mi remote minus voice control. The remote comes with just 11 buttons and can also be used to control your set-top-box as well.
Xiaomi Mi TV 4A 32-inch vs 43-inch vs Mi TV 4 55-inch: price and availability
Xiaomi managed to dominate the budget mobile market in India because its smartphones offer hardware and design at very competitive, if not disruptive, price points. This is what the company is looking to do now in the TV segment. The 55-inch Mi TV 4 was launched in India at Rs 39,999. This is among the most affordable prices for a 4K UHD Smart TV that can be found in the market. Even affordable brands like VU and TCL offer their 55-inch 4K UHD Smart TVs upwards of Rs 50,000. This is why the Mi TV 4 has sold out in mere seconds in all three flash sales so far. The next flash sale of the Mi TV 4 will take place on March 13 at 12pm on Flipkart and Mi.com.
The two new variants of the Mi TV 4A come at lower price points starting at Rs 13,999 for the 32-inch HD model while the larger 43-inch full-HD variant has been priced at Rs 22,999. Both the models will go on sale for the first time on March 13 alongside the Mi TV 4 at 12pm on Mi.com/in, Flipkart and Mi Home Stores in India. We expect the first flash sale to see a response similar to the Mi TV 4, which means those interested in purchasing the Mi TV 4A should make sure they are ready to hit the checkout button at 12pm on the March 13. One will also have to wait and see if the addition of two new Mi TVs helps ease the flash sale traffic for the Mi TV 4.
