Apple is developing Mac Pro with workflows in mind.
The highly anticipated update to Apple’s Mac Pro is now said to only make its way to the market sometime next year. Last year, at a roundtable discussion, Apple had responded to the concerns of Mac Pro users by saying that it is developing a brand new Mac Pro and that it would only release „next year“, that is 2018. However, according to latest reports, the Cupertino giant is planning to release a redesigned version of the computer in 2019. However, it could be worth the wait, as the company has said that it is developing the system based on its potential users.
Apple has revealed to TechCrunch that the modular workstation will now ship in 2019 because the release of the Mac Pro may affect the rest of its pro-focused products, such as the iMac Pro. Tom Boger, senior director of Mac Hardware Product Marketing, was quoted as saying, „We know that there’s a lot of customers today that are making purchase decisions on the iMac Pro and whether or not they should wait for the Mac Pro.“ However, the report also reveals more interesting details on how Apple is shaping the future of its pro products.
A new team called Pro Workflow will now coordinate efforts across the Apple’s hardware and software teams to better ensure the end product meets the needs of the company’s target audience. The workflow team, under Apple’s VP of Hardware Engineering John Ternus, will also interact with pro-device users who use Apple hardware and software across graphic design, film editing, animation, and other industries.
„We said in the meeting last year that the pro community isn’t one thing,“ Ternus was quoted as saying. He added, „It’s very diverse. There’s many different types of pros and obviously they go really deep into the hardware and software and are pushing everything to its limit. So one thing you have to do is we need to be engaging with the customers to really understand their needs. Because we want to provide complete pro solutions, not just deliver big hardware, which we’re doing and we did it with iMac Pro. But look at everything holistically.“
