LG announced the giant 6.4″ handset to a great fanfare, touting the first Holy Grail combo of camera lenses on a modern smartphone for both wide-angle and telephoto zoomed shots. The rest of the specs are expected for a 2018 flagship, save for the 64GB basic storage that a lot of midrangers now have, too, and the puny 3300 mAh battery that is eaten alive by the large QHD+ resolution display.
How much is LG asking for its latest and greatest for the year? Well, there at-launch deals, discounts, BOGOs or freebies are scarce this time around, and each carrier that will sport the V40 in its portfolio has pegged the tag north of the $900 mark.
The Un-carrier just sent us a press release that it will be having the LG V40 ThinQ for online pre-sale starting Friday, Oct. 12 and in T-Mobile retail stores Friday, Oct. 19 for $200 down and $30 a month for 24 months on the T-Mobile Equipment Installment Plan. That gives a full retail price of $920, or, not that far off the initial rumors.
LG V40 ThinQ will be available for pre-order on Verizon earlier, on October 11 in Aurora Black and the Moroccan Blue color that will be exclusive to Big Red. It is starting at $40.83 a month for 24 months, amounting to $979.99 retail price. The release date for your local Verizon store or online is also a day earlier than the rest, on October 18.
Two deals at up to $500 can help you cushion the V40 price blow. New and existing customers will have $200 slashed off the phone’s tag if they get it a device payment plan, and, if you’re switching or adding a new line, trade-ins of up to $300 are available for your old handset.
AT&T customers can pre-order the LG V40 ThinQ on AT&T Next for $31.67 a month for 30 months with eligible service, Starting October 12. The official release date when the smartphone will be available in AT&T stores is October 19, a day later than Verizon
Here, the LG V40 ThinQ will be available directly on October 19, and after two bill cycles, you will be paying only $20 a month for it with Sprint Flex Lease. The $20 monthly discount knocks 360 off the price for the 18-month lease, not too bad at all.
The good part is that when the lease is up, you can choose to get something else that will probably be on promo, too, and will be paying just $20 in the meantime to essentially „rent“ one of the finest handsets for this year.
Back when we made our rumor roundup on the LG V40 topic, the company’s quarterly flagship (we kid, but indeed, now there are four for the year – the V30s, V35 and G7), we made a $900 prediction about its pricing, and were a bit off by a few tens.
