„Christy“ star Sydney Sweeney was snubbed from the 2026 Golden Globe Awards nominations after a controversial year.
And none for Sydney Sweeney, bye!
The “Christy” star did not receive any love for her boxing biopic when the nominees for the 2026 Golden Globe Awards were announced Monday.
The November 2025 movie — which is based on the life of trailblazing boxer Christy Martin — was a box office flop on opening weekend, making around $1.3 million in the United States. The film then suffered one of the worst second-weekend drops ever, leading to its removal from many theaters across the country.
However, Sweeney and the rest of the “Christy” cast and crew received a standing ovation at its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September. And although the reviews were mixed, Sweeney was generally praised for her transformative performance.
Sweeney — who has been embroiled in controversy this year — previously dismissed the negative box office results, writing in part on Instagram that we “don’t always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact.
