Nearly four weeks ago, Michigan fans watched their football team go to Ohio Stadium with the dreams of a College Football Playoff berth and the hopes of ending nearly two decades worth of frustration.
Four hours later, they were furious.
Two weeks after that, they watched the Wolverines‘ top-rated 2019 commitment (Daxton Hill) tell the world he was going to Alabama while their other top-rated target (Zach Harrison) began to trend toward their most hated rival.

Furious. Outraged. Despondent. Michigan fans, after a 10-2 season, have been miserable for a solid month. Upset about the Peach Bowl, upset about no playoff spot, upset about another loss to Ohio State.
Upset about everything.
And then…
„Wednesday’s going to be good,“ Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said this week during a recording of his podcast. „We’re going to have some fireworks on signing day.“
Harbaugh’s fireworks hit the sky at 8:18 a.m., when Michigan officially announced it had processed a national letter of intent for Hill, a 5-star safety, the biggest prize of what turned into a very good day for Michigan’s football program.
Fans‘ emotions change like the wind. For most of Wednesday, for the first time since prior to the Ohio State game, U-M fans were generally smiling.
Harbaugh’s recruiting finish this week could’ve been rough. But it wasn’t. He weathered a rather obvious negative recruiting attempt by former Ohio State receiver — and current Fox analyst — Cris Carter earlier this month. And then he put his stamp on a year’s worth of recruiting work.
Wednesday wasn’t perfect, but it was plenty. And while the biggest moment of Harbaugh’s tenure is still roughly 11 months away, on the field against Ohio State and new coach Ryan Day in November, this was a noted step in the right direction.
